The Wait

Toots first dinner with a school friend.

You all seemed very listless waiting for this new friend to arrive.

You paced the house.

You stared blankly at me.

You kept looking at the clock - as if you knew what the time said.

And of course you all waited, checking out the window.

So here you all sat - like Sally and Friend from the Cat in the Hat.

"I sat there with Sally.

We sat there, we two.

And I said, "How I wish 

We had something to do!"

You're jubilation at the entrance of your friend.

And an evening of happiness ensued.
